The forecast is certainly looking that way, but it will be a slow and steady climb out of our deficit over the next week or so. As of Friday, Rockford was 17" of snow below normal for meteorological winter and almost 19" below normal for the entire snow season.

A few fast moving clipper systems will kick off our snow chances this weekend. Clipper systems typically don't drop a lot of snow, but several systems over the coming week should add up fast.

Accumulated Snow Through Saturday Morning

System #1 moves in Friday night and will bring a quick and fluffy 1-3" of snow by Saturday morning.

Accumulated Snow Through Sunday Morning

After a break in the action Saturday afternoon, system #2 moves in Saturday night. An inch or less will be possible through early Sunday morning.

The extended forecast shows two more clipper systems on Monday and Tuesday. Each could bring an inch or two of snow with it.

Accumulated Snow Through Next Saturday

Overall, the Stateline could easily see half a foot of snow by the middle of next week if the forecast holds. It wouldn't end our snow drought, but it would sure help! -BA
