Our next winter storm is going to be a tricky one. Below is a basic timeline of what we're expecting for theStateline starting tonight and heading into Thursday. Remember that a slight change in the movement of this storm couldmean big changes in the forecast. Regardless, things are looking messy forThursday. Use extreme caution if you're out and about. Illinois
This evening: Areas of dense fog possible as melting snowpack provides moisture to go along with milder temps.
Tonightafter midnight:Freezing rain possible.
Thursdaymorning:Wintry mix of rain/snow/sleet. Some Freezing rain still possible
Thursdaylate morning/midday: Couldsee a brief period of all rain, but wintry mix still possible.
Thursdayafternoon:Switchover to snow. Accumulations of 1-3" will be possible for Winnebago andBoone counties. McHenry county could see slightly more snow. Accumulations of less than 2" will bepossible for areas south and west of Rockford.

Wisconsin
This evening: Light snow will be possible,especially around the Monroearea. Sleet and freezing rain could mix in.
Tonightafter midnight:Snow showers. Areas of sleet and freezing rain possible.
Thursdaymorning:Wintry mix continues.
Thursdayafternoon: Snow showers. Accumulationsof up to 6" will be possible, especially in Rock and Walworth counties.
